Duck Treats

During dinner tonight, Mike and I asked Emma to tell a story.  This was her story:

Carina:  What's your story about, Emma?
Emma:  A scary monster.
Carina:  What color is the monster?
Emma:  Red, purple, and green.  And there's a Mommy monster and a Daddy monster.
Carina:  What color is the Daddy monster?
Emma:  Red, purple, and green.
Carina:  What color is the Mommy monster?
Emma:  Red, purple, and green.
Carina:  So what did the baby monster, mommy monster, and daddy monster do?
Emma:  They played together.
Carina:  So then what happens next?
Emma:  Then there was a fox.

 Carina:  What's the fox's name?
Emma:  Homgy.
Carina:  Homgy?
Emma:  Yes, and there's a mommy fox too.
Carina:  What's the mommy fox's name?
Emma:  Sharley.
Carina:  Sharley?
Emma:  Yes, and there's a baby and that's Shershee.
Carina:  Ok, so what did the baby fox, the mommy fox, and the daddy fox do?
Emma:  Then there was a duck.
Carina:  A duck?

At this point Emma was getting more interested in story telling than in eating, so I asked her to finish her turkey meatballs.  I told her that she could have a treat if she finished her dinner.

Emma:  A treat?
Carina:  Yes, a treat.
Emma:  What kind of treat?
Carina:  What kind of treat do you want?
Emma:  A duck treat.
Carina:  What's a duck treat?

To which Emma made up and sang us the following song:

Emma:  Duck treats are sweet.  And very all around.  And very very plop.

We burst out laughing which of course led her to sing this song for the rest of the evening.  Needless to say I didn't have anything in the kitchen that remotely followed her description of a duck treat, so instead she got some organic yogurt.  :)
